AGARTALA, Jan 12 (TIWN): Tripura Govt's promise about Rs. 10 lakhs compensation to each Covid deceased family has yet to get momentum although the promise was made by none other than CM Biplab Deb himself. On May 7, 2020, Tripura CM Biplab Deb announced a compensation amount of Rs 10 lakhs for the family members of those who died fighting COVID-19. After the promise 2 years have been passed but not a single person has received Rs. 10 lakhs. No Covid deceased's family has gotten any money as compensation. However, no statement has yet come from the Chief Minister yet about the reason behind the delay to pay off the compensation.

What was CM's promise in 2020 ?

It was - "Dear Friends, State Govt already declared if anyone dies from Covid in state, their families will be given Rs. 4 lakhs each. Today I am announcing that the front line warriors like Doctors, Nurses, Health Workers, Journalists, Paramedics, Police personnel, Sweeping staff, ICDS employees, ASHA Workers including the Civil Administration and the Line Dept and including everybody, total 37 lakhs of people will get Rs. 10 lakhs if anyone in their families die of Covid for survival. Rs. 4 lakhs will be given from SDRF and rest Rs. 6 Lakhs will be managed from CM relief fund".
