AGARTALA, Jan 6 (TIWN): Rampant drug, cattle and illegal smuggling in border areas of Tripura. Reportedly, around 5:30 am on Thursday, BSF Jawans of Kamthana 150th Battalion were able to apprehend cattle while smuggling illegally from Gate No-135 on the basis of secret information but could not apprehend any smugglers.
It is known that illegally cows have been being smuggled across the border for a long time especially through the Konaban Kaiyadepa border.
Sources say that illegal cows and various narcotics are being smuggled to Bangladesh through the border gates in exchange for large sums of money at the border gates.
Local people said that the police and the BSF should be more vigilant so that illegal cattle smuggling and drug trafficking would not take place at the border.
