AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): The “Right to Life” concept is yet limited in words and has not received constitutional values in Tripura hospitals. Severe blood crisis continues to haunt the patient parties and injustice is visible but there is no room for grievance for the patient parties. In GB hospital, which is the main referral hospital in Tripura due to the blood crisis, many patients are on the verge of death and even after blood is available, blood banks are not allowing the patient parties to receive the blood unless they can arrange a blood donor. Even if a few patient parties can arrange blood donors, they have to pay at the blood bank. The blood crisis issue is not new in the state but CM Biplab Deb himself is holding the department and he has nothing to say about the crisis, but he claimed many times that blood donation has increased.
Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath also claimed in various programmes that blood donation camps have increased under BJP Govt.
Political leaders, Ministers, MLAs never face blood crisis but today a woman who was in hospital with her ill husband broke down in tears as she alone is unable to arrange blood.
In the same manner another gentleman was requesting the GB hospital blood bank repeatedly to give him O+ blood but although 4 units of O+ blood were in the blood bank, he did not get blood because he could not arrange a blood donor.
Talking to the blood bank staff, he argued that right now blood donation camp has decreased and as a result blood crisis is happening.
