AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): On a pathetic note, one child laborer was seriously injured after falling from a betel tree. The incident took place in the area adjacent to Krishnapur Gram Panchayat under Teliamura Police Station on Monday afternoon. The injured child is identified as Swapu Shukla Das.
According to reports, Swapu Shukla Das and his owner went to buy betel nut at the house of a man in the area adjacent to Krishnapur Gram Panchayat under Teliamura PS area. After purchasing the betel nut, Swapu Shukla Das climbed the tree to get the betel nut. At that time, the betel tree suddenly broke and he fell to the ground. He was seriously injured in the incident. After witnessing the incident, the people present rushed him to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital.
But the allegation is that when he was taken to the sub-divisional hospital, the doctor on duty informed him that X-rays should be taken from outside, that is, privately and the treatment can start only after that. But now the question is why X-rays will be done privately when the Subdivisional hospital should provide all these facilities at free of cost? When family members asked, the hospital authority gave a mere excuse and asked them to get the report from outside.
On the other hand, it is known that the seriously injured Swapu Shukla Das is a minor and according to Indian law it is a criminal offense to use child labor. But how did the owner employ the child? Now it is to see what action is taken against the owner for employing him as a labor.
