AGARTALA, December 23 (TIWN): Its unimaginable even in backward provinces of Pakistan and Bangladesh that village women folks are attacking Police force and beating administration officials in open daylight to prevent destruction of ganja plantations. On 20/12/2014 at around 10 to 10:30 am Mohanpur sub-divisional administration including police personnel were wounded by the mob attack and at least four vehicles were ransacked at Sajiabari in Mohanpur sub-division. These type of incidents clearly show the gaining upper hand of organized narcotics business across Tripura and utter disregard of State's law & order machinery. In Simna,Mohanpur, 200 villagers severely beaten SDM, Police, Officials and journalists, destroyed official vehicles but SDM couldn't order Police firing due to fear of local political leaders. This has now brewed a serious tension among the state administration and has given birth to another bizarre chapter in Tripura, where the govt. as well the police has failed to provide necessary securities to the state administration.

Marking a serious question on the incident that occurred on December 20, how could the police remain back track from taking legal steps against the culprits who made an attack on the District Administration and its team?

Now the questions are arising that:

1. Why the police did not take any action against the culprits?

2.Are the culprits close to Melarmath big heads?

3.Or  Melarmath big heads providing full safe guard to the culprits?

4.Is Melarmath getting commission from these culprits?

It is to be mentioned here that on December 20 acting on tip-off, a joint team including Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mohanpur- Dhiraj Debbarma, DCM Sirsendu Debbarma, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mohanpur- Rupam Chakma and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sedhai police station- Firoz Miah went to Sajiabari in Mohanpur sub-division to conduct an anti-cannabis operation. In the raid, the team discovered a massive cannabis plantation on 1 Kani land and started destroying them.

According to the OC Firoz Miah, during the operation, the angry residents including women of Sajiabari area suddenly started attacking the officers and police personnel with sharp cutting weapons and sticks and partially ransacked four official vehicles, which were placed at a distance of half kilometer from the ganja plantation.

As a result, the SDM, DCM, SDPO, OC, five police constables including a women constable of Sedhai police station, 5 workers and one journalist received minor injuries on their person.

According to the last report, nobody was arrested in this regard, the SDM filed a written complaint against the attackers, said an official source.

It is to be mentioned here; ganja cultivation in every corner of Tripura has been growing rapidly. To curb the illegal trade and ganja farming, the administrative officers are conducting several raids in the different parts of the state.

Bangladesh's HUJI, Jihadi elements in collaboration with Tripura's NLFT, Assam's ULFA, Bodo NDFB running narcotics cartel across North East India  to raise funds for operations.
