Tripura Gramin Bank celebrates 39th foundation day

AGARTALA, December 21 (TIWN): Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) celebrated its 39th foundation day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bahvan, here today. Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) Upendra Sabar inaugurated the programme.

Addressing in the inaugural ceremony minister for  information and cultural affairs Bhanu Lal Saha said that Tripura Gramin Bank was set up with four branches on 21st December, 1976 under the Regional Rural Bank Act. 1976 in the state of Tripura. Since its existence, the Tripura Gramin Bank is dedicated to the amelioration of the socio-economic condition of the rural people of the state.

Since the economy of the state is basically agrarian, the development what so ever is based on agriculture apart from a segment of village and cottage industries .

Tripura Gramin Bank has now become an inseparable part of state economy for its commitment and contribution to the process of economic up-liftment of the poor and downtrodden people of the state. Beside normal banking business, Tripura Gramin Bank is also extending diversified services like payment of monthly salary to a larger section of the employees of the state Govt., TTAADC and School Teachers. More than 125000 nos. of NREGA's and 50000 old age pension payment also made through the bank

Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) is not only Tripura's own bank but it is also the sheet anchor for the people of the state in terms of dedicated banking service, the minister mentioned.

Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) Upendra Sabar said that the Bank achieved a total business of Rs. 5028.06 crores. The deposits soared to Rs. 3515.48 crores registering a growth of 9.36%. the share of CASA stood at 58.21%. the savings bank deposits and current deposits increased to Rs. 1862.58 crores and Rs. 183.65 crores respectively with a growth of 6.21% and 8.26%.

He further informed that as on September 30, 2014 the Gross NPA ratio stands at 4.31%. the Net NPA ratio of the Bank stood at 1.51% as on September 30, 2014.

Upendra Sabar further added that the Bank has recently taken certain initiatives that include Financial literary camp to create an awareness among the bank customers and others. Recently the bank has made its 4 old ATMs functional for 24 hours, Sabar mentioned.

Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and other dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony.
