AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): The Trinamool Congress held a massive protest in Agartala on Thursday as no arrest was made by Police so far in the Udaipur incident on 1st August where All India Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was attacked by BJP party workers. An argument erupted between Trinamool activists and police after West Agartala PS OC - Jayanta Karmakar asked them not to walk any rally and tried to stop the rally. Police's interruption in the democratic protest fueled into arguments and the Trinamool activists led by Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh sat on the road in protest. However, the activists did not block road saying, "We don't want to disturb the movement of the traffic". A team of the Trinamool Congress entered West Agartala PS asking what action was taken against attack incident on Abhishek Banerjee but police could not give any proper answer. Then many Trinamool activists enetered the Police station and demonstration in the OC's chamber's main door.
Talking to media, Trinamool leader Kunal Ghosh said, "We, only few people were marching but police were trying to stop us............after one and half years no BJP Govt will rule the state. Police must understand it. There will be Trinamool Congress Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Home Minister after some days. BJP will not be in power and so police should not listen to them. We were walking towards the police station to place a deputation. What is wrong in that ? Why are they afraid so much ?"
"They (BJP) attacked Abhishek Banerjee. The Govt arrested I-PAC and now police are stopping us from entering police station. Why ? What kind of rule is it ? Let them arrest us. We don't care. We are habituated with such arrests and threats", said Ghosh.
