AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): In another theft incident, a gang of thieves looted Amrita Debbarma’s house located in the area adjacent to Jagannath Bari Road Daily Sangbad in the middle of the capital city. The thieves found the house empty and took away Rs. 60,000 cash, heavy pieces of gold and silver pieces of jewelry, and other items.
The family members informed the West PS about the incident but the police did not visit their house they alleged. Besides, the most pathetic color of Tripura Police was witnessed today. After Amrita questioned the OC of the west PS that how such daring thefts can happen within the center of the city when their house is located just a few meters away from the West PS in the middle of two high-resolution CCTV camera set up by the Government facing the roads, the officer replied that it’s not the Polices’ duty to guard the city.
Amid the pandemic Tripura police are playing a major role in arresting or putting fines on the curfew violators moreover on yesterday during night patrol they arrested over 15 people from the town who were violating the curfew but seeing the rise in crimes, it seems the curfew exists only for the common public and not for the criminals or the police do not feel the need to keep an eye on such crimes.
Despite their stern attitude, night patrolling, and strict vigilance, the number of thefts, burglaries, house attacks, molestation, and drug abuse is increasing day by day. Essential objects were stolen repeatedly from the well-known schools and colleges located in the heart of the city amid the curfew, over 50 houses reported theft in the last month but hardly any of the culprits could be caught despite CCTV footage were recovered in some cases.
