AGARTALA, May 29 (TIWN): As we are aware, the transport workers in this state are facing a severe loss during this curfew period imposed due to the pandemic situation. Their families are facing life-sustaining crises. CITU approved Tripura Motor Workers Union, Tripura Auto-rickshaw Workers Union, and Tripura E-Rickshaw Union gave a deputation to the Labor Commissioner of the state, Naresh Babu N, at the Labor department today raising 3-demands.

Their demands include:-

  • During the corona curfew, every worker's family has to pay at least Rs 7,500 per month in cash and 10 kg of rice per head free of cost.
  • Not to force the concerned workers to repay the loan installments at this time and also to waive the calculated net for it.
  • Immediate immunization of all transport workers through special COVID-19 vaccine camps under a government initiative.

Earlier this week, E-rickshaw Association submitted their demand regarding the same to Sadar DM, SDM, and Deputy Commissioner after appealing to the government several times. They raised the issue that in 2020, the state government announced that e-rickshaw workers will be paid Rs.1000 to cope up with the pandemic situation but in reality, the promise was not fulfilled.
