AGARTALA, May 24 (TIWN): A poor woman has committed suicide after local Panchayat had ordered her family to pay Rs. 5 lakhs in the name of mutualizing a case. He death has been reported amid brutal attacks were coming from the BJP Party on the family. Though FIR has been lodged against 7 persons, so far no arrest was held. Reportedly, this incident took place at Dhanpur where Binod Debnath and his wife Santibala Debnath were asked to pay Rs. 5 lakhs by Dhanpur Panchayat Pradhan, BJP Mandal President and few other leaders. When the family was unable to pay that amount, their home was attacked by the BJP local members.

The pressure came after a man had died in accident and Binod Debnath's son was driving the car at Bhabanipur in this accident incident. 

Though police lodged a case, but Panchayat wanted to solve the matter out of police station and court in exchange of Rs. 5 lakhs, which was never possible for the poor family to pay. 

Instead of going in legal process, the Panchayat ordered the family to give Rs. 5 Lakhs and asked Binod Debnath to sell off his property and to collect the money. 

By that time already so many attacks has  taken place in that home. Out of fear, Santibala Debnath committed suicide. 

Victim's husband sought justice to his wife in this incident. Santibala Debnath's body has ben taken for post mortem.
