AGARTALA, May 9 (TIWN): A middle-aged woman committed suicide by hanging herself in her own house. The incident took place in Rajib Colony Kalitila area under Charilam RD block.

The deceased woman has been identified as Malati Dutta, 45 years old, unmarried.

Locals said, Malati lived alone at her house and her parents died at an early age.

According to the locals, she used to work on the MNREGA project. However, the locals of the area said that she was a little weak mentally as because she lived alone.

Today at late morning, noticing closed door a housewife, Pooja Malakar of that area knocked on her door.

Later, the housewife, Puja Malakar saw Malati’s lifeless body was hanging in her room and then she started shouting.

At the housewife’s shout the villagers gathered in front of Malati’s house.

The news was given to Bishalgarh PS, a huge police force reached to the scene and recovered the dead body.

The dead body was sent to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital for autopsy. However, the reason behind committing suicide was not yet known.
