UDAIPUR,December 11 (TIWN): MGNREGA workers today recovered a shell suspected to be used in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War from Gokulpur under Radhakishorepur police station.

Weighted around 1kg 300gm this shell was handed over to the  Radhakishorepur police station. This incident took place in Gokulpur Agriculture Chownahani area near the East Gokulpur Panchayat Office.
It was at around 10.30am. MGNREGA workers of East Gokulpur Panchayat just started their days work under MGNREGA. After 20 minutes they found the shell while digging the ground. At once police was informed. A team of R K Pur police station rushed to the spot and the MGNREGA workers handed over the shell to them. Speaking to TIWN S I Anil Debnath said," Now we will have to look into the matter ; how the shell came here and where from did it come here. We will seek our experts views on this."

It is expected that this might have been used in the 1971 Liberation War. During the 1971 War liberation army as well as refugees from Bangladesh came to Tripura in large numbers . And several liberation army camps were also stationed at  Udaipur. It might be the case that some how bit was left behind and got buried under the ground. But as soon as the news spread, hundreds of enthusiastic people rushed to Gokulpur to see what it really was .
