Agartala, Dec 11 (TIWN): With the initiative of National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, Umakanta Academy, a seven-day long special camp was inaugurated at the Vivekananda Auditorium here today and it would be continued till December 17. The Chief Guest, MLA Ratan Das inaugurated the camp in presence of other dignitaries while the welcome address was delivered by the NSS programme officer, UK Academy- Rati Ranjan Bhowmik.
Mayor-in-Council of AMC- Biswanath Saha, Head Master of UK Academy- Pranay Debbarma, Assistant Head Mistress Bharati Maitra, other teachers and NSS volunteers attended the function.
As part of 7-day long special camp, NSS volunteers would stage a gardening and cleanliness drive at the school premises while a seminar on Human Rights will be addressed by the Ex Principal of Agartala Law College- Krishna Keshab Roy tomorrow.
Besides, Ex Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW)- Tapati Chakraborty will address a seminar on atrocities on women in state on Saturday.
A survey works on the financial status of Rajnagar village under ward no- 10 of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be conducted by the volunteers of UK Academy NSS unit on Sunday while Traffic Police Inspector and secretary of TCA- Saurabh Das Gupta would address a seminar on the awareness on traffic rules on the same day.
The NSS volunteers will visit Sandhyaneer (Old Age Home) and would distribute fruits, sweets and sports articles among the borders on Tuesday while a seminar on the importance of national integration and communal harmony will be held by the teachers of UK Academy on the same day.
The closing ceremony of 7-day long special camp and prize distribution ceremony among the NSs volunteers based on their performance during the camp will be held on December 17.
