TIWN March 4, 2021

AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Resentment erupted among Christian community as ADC Election date has fallen on 4th April, which is the holy celebration day of 'EASTER DAY'.
In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura Fr. Ivan D’Silva, the Secretary for the United Christian Forum for Human Rights said, "I am contented to send the memorandum addressed to you by the Untied Christian Forum for Human rights, Dhalai, Tripura. With the announcement of election schedule the model code of conduct has come into force in the ADC area. As united Christian Forum of Dhalai District we request you to change the announced (April 4) election date to any other weekdays. You may be aware that April 4th this year happens to be on Sunday and it is the feast day for Christians. We celebrate on that day the ‘EASTER DAY’ (Resurrection of Jesus Christ). We respect sentiments of everyone and every religion because India has proved to be a peaceful haven for different religions and cultures. Being a pluralistic State, Indian has a great feeling of nationality and to generate or maintain this kind of feeling, the nature of our constitution is secular. Hence, we the concerned members of Christian Forum want to register our objection to the declared date (April 4) and request you to kindly change the date".
