AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb who is consistently in controversy for his bizarre comments, now turned BJP's biggest 'Joker' at the national level. National media are now eying Tripura for CM Biplab Deb's next gaffe as every time he makes worse jokes than the last one. With Biplab Deb located in the US's Harvard University at London, national media has recalled how Biplab Deb said earlier in 2019 that Amazon river is located in Africa. This news is nationally covered and various states' media, regional media also published this shocking statement from Tripura CM. It happened when already controversy was going on centering Biplab Deb's remark about "Amit Shah's plan to form BJP Govts in Nepal and Sri Lanka". This statement for a while had affected India's foreign relations.

On the other side, the ruling Nepal Communist Party and the main opposition Nepali Congress criticised Shah’s purported comment, asserting that it amounted to undermining Nepal’s sovereignty. Nepal Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Tuesday said the government has noted the media reports, and “formal objections conveyed to the government of India”. Foreign ministry sources said Nepal’s ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya lodged formal objections.

Nepal has termed Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's statement "Unfortunate" where he claimed 'Amit Shah wants BJP's rule over Nepal, Sri Lanka'. Opposition Congress has said, Biplab Deb's may result in 'Diplomatic Blunder' as it can ruin foreign relations. However, within 48 hours of Biplab Deb's remark becoming a viral news, both Sri Lanka and Nepal have raised concerns.

Sri Lanka's Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punchihewa put objection to the statement of Biplab Deb saying, "Any Sri Lankan political party or group is permitted to have external links with any party or group overseas. But our electoral laws do not permit overseas political parties to work here". Nepal has called the Statement "Unfortunate". "Ambassador Acharya expressed concern over Biplab Kumar Deb’s statement that Indian home minister had shared “plans to form a government in Nepal", reported 'The Kathmandu Post'.

"The Indian side has assured that they will clarify the matter during their regular press meet on Thursday, while taking note of Deb’s statement and saying that they have also noticed some reports circulating in various Indian newspapers, which is unfortunate", it reported.
