Aghore urges for unity: Sanhati Mela draws huge gathering at Belonia

Belonia, Dec 7 (TIWN): Three-day long Sanhati Mela started on Friday has been drawing huge gathering unexpectedly at the 500-year-old Dimatali mosque ground of Chandrapur under Rajnagar block. The closing ceremony of Sahnati Mela and exhibition is scheduled to be held on tomorrow. Altogether 14 stalls have been opened by the various departments in the fair.

With pomp, gaiety and enthusiasm, a vast number of people belong to different communities from all over the state thronged in the fair and made the first day of fair grand success. Besides, various cultural events are making the fair more striking to the common people.

After inaugurating the Sanhati Mela, Agriculture and ST Welfare Minister Aghore Debbarma said, “The ways of progress and development will be more enlarged in the state if the unity becomes stronger.” He further expressing hope added that this fair will make the unity in diversity more powerful.

The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), Minority Welfare Department- Sahid Chowdhury in his address urged people to strengthen the unity.

Besides, Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad- Himangshu Roy and District Magistrate (in-charge), South- Rajendra Kumar Noatia also graced the dais and delivered their essential speeches. The programme was presided over by the MLA Sudhan Saha. The welcome address was delivered by the BDO, Rajnagar Block- Badal Roy.

During the inaugural ceremony, MLA Basudev Majumder, chairman of Rajnagar Panchayat Samity- Ratna Das, chairman of Bharatchandranagar Panchayat Samity- Nirmal Bhowmik, member of South Tripura Zilla Parishad- Suresh Vil and vice-chairman of Rajnagar Panchayat Samity- Gouranga Mohan Sil were remained present as special guests. SDM, Belonia- Brahmanit Kaur and Deputy Director of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department- Somen Laskar graced the dais as guests of honour.

In the closing ceremony and award distribution programme, Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) and Tourism Department- Ratan Bhowmik will grace the dais as chief guest while MLA Sudhan Das will preside over the function on Monday.

MLA Yashbir Tripura, chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council- Dipankar Sen, Hrishyamukh Panchayat Samity chairman- Ashis Datta and chairman of Rajnagar Panchayat Samity- Ratna Das will grace the dais as special guests.

Besides, Director of ICA Department- Santanu Debbarma and Superintendent of police (SP), South- Bhanupada Chakraborty and others will attend the closing ceremony as guests of honour. The function will be presided over by the MLA Sudhan Das.
