AGARTALA, Jan 29 (TIWN): Acting against police administration’s brutality under dictator CM Biplab Deb’s order, 10323 teachers file FIR against West PS OC, Jayanta Karmakar, Jirania SDPO, Suman Das, Amtali SDPO Anirban Das, and West PS SP Manik Das. However, FIR copy was not given to JMC but JMC stated that if FIR is not taken, then they will go directly to Court. Addressing the media, 10323 teacher Biswajit Banik said, “On Jan 27 early in the morning a group of police officials suddenly came to our demonstration spot and disrupted our movement which we were carrying out democratically for 51 days. They broke our stage, few male police officers entered ladies toilets and dragged female teachers out, and took them to the police vehicles. While the teachers were sleeping inside the tent, the police and TSR pulled them and their children too and started beating them for an unknown reason. Moreover, they also looted our food items and donation boxes that consisted of around 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees which we got as donations from masses. Our personal bags and wallets were also seized by them for which many of the teachers lost their important documents, cash, mobile phones, and gold chains kept inside, and no seizure list was issued in this regard".

Reportedly, over 100 teachers were seriously injured as police used tear gas and water cannons but when they went to seek medical attention, the doctors left them after providing initial treatment with no follow up. Around 70 teachers were taken to IGM hospital and 15 among them were hospitalized for enduring severe injuries during lathi-charge. In Tripura's history, this day will be marked as a Black Day when 10323 teachers who were sleeping at demonstration spots were arrested, beaten, and then when many teachers gathered for protest, under Biplab Deb's order police held severe serial attacks on them.
