AGARTALA, Nov 30 (TIWN): In a massive agitation before the Secretariat today, unemployed teaching aspirants have lashed out at the BJP Govt for depriving UR-Category unemployed youths, violating traditional norms of interviews for all categories candidates. This issue erupted after Tripura Govt had called interviews only for the ST category when thousands of vacant posts are existing in the Dept where General and SC could be recruited. However, with demands of filling up all the vacant posts, B.Ed qualified unemployed youths have staged protest before the Secretariat. Police called their protest 'unlawful' and attempted to arrest the agitating unemployed youths which generated verbal arguments between unemployed youths and police there. The Aspirants displayed banners in a protest in front of the Secretariat writing 'Depriving UR Category taking TET exams will not be tolerated".When 8882 teachers under 10323 teachers groups recently lost jobs and every year so many teachers are taking retirement, undoubtedly there would be massive vacancy.

Demanding fulfilling of those posts, the unemployed youths have gheraoed Secretariat.

It can be noted here that after terminations of around 8882 teachers among 10323 teachers (others got jobs), retirement of many teachers in last 2 and half years and in addition of more vacant posts, Education Dept is not taking any initiative to fill up the vacant posts.

For next 1 year, less than 4000 recruitment has been planned by the State Govt when huge numbers of teachers were terminated. Although Govt is propagating about massive recruitment, but practically, Govt's expenditure in teachers payments have massively downed due to vast numbers of teachers terminations and also regular retirements. In this situation, the B.Ed passed job aspirants have demanded immediate filling up of 4445 vacant posts. While agitating the unemployed youths, they said that from retirement and terminations of 10323, huge vacancies are existing in Tripura and the Dept only knows how much posts are existing, but why there is no step for recruitment ?

Their demands are :

1) STGT, STPGT posts must be increased as huge vacancies are remaining,

2) 10323 teachers' around 4445 posts are left vacant. Thos posts also have to be filled up,

3) So many teachers are going in retirement. The retirement data must be given,

4) At least 5 to 6 thousand recruitment must be done right now,

6) After thousands of retirement, why only 175 and 65 recruitment in STGT, STPGT ?

7) Why UR category has been deprived amid thousands of vacant posts ?
