Tragic road mishap claims life of physically challenged woman, atleast 10 sustained injuries

Agartala, Dec 3 (TIWN): While the entire nation was observing World Disabled Day, a 36-year-old physically challenged woman died in a tragic road accident at South Pulinpur on National Highway (NH)-44 in Teliamura sub-division. At least 10 passengers sustained severe injuries, said police.

The deceased was identified as Budhini Hrankhal (36), resident of Debthang area at Teliamura. Out of the injured persons, Kusumsen Hrangkhal (45), resident of Debthang area was referred to GBP hospital as his condition is stated to be critical, said police. All other injured persons are undergoing treatment at Teliamura sub-divisional hospital.

According to the police, when a jeep loaded with passengers bearing number TRT-3005 was procedding towards Hrangkhal Para from Teliamura, a 12-wheeler lorry bearing registration no. TR-01-R-1762 collided with the jeep South Pulinpur around 3.30 pm today.

As a result, the passenger of the jeep Buddhini died on the spot and at least 10 passengers of the Jeep received grievous injuries on their persons. Most of the passengers were participants in the World Disabled Day function held today at Teliamura Town Hall.

However, after receiving the information, police of Teliamura police station rushed to the place of occurrence and seized both of the vehicles. The drivers of both the vehicles fled away after the incident. A specific case is being registered in this regard, said police.
