Police recover stolen ark, one suspected detained

Agartala, Dec 2 (TIWN): It makes the people happy when they get their lost item back, said the owner of a stolen ark Subhasis Das after getting his stolen materials back today. Police today recovered and opened the stolen ark at the West Agartala Police station in the presence of the Superintendent of Police (SP), West- Bijay Nag, owner of the stolen ark Subhasis Das and others. After breaking the ark, police today recovered cash of around Rs. 7 lakh, gold ornaments and vital documents.

In the wee-hours of night, a team of thieves committed theft in a grocery shop owned by Subhasis Saha at Maharajganj bazaar area on November 25. A locked ark including hard cash of Rs. 50,000, mobile accessories and gold ornaments were stolen from the shop. In the very next morning, shop owner noticed the incident and informed to the police immediately. An FIR was also registered at the West Agartala police station in this regard.

After receiving the information, police of West Agartala police station rushed to the spot and started an investigation into this case. Later, police detained one suspected person Bagha Das of Nandannagar in this connection.

A woman Sunday discovered the ark in a jungle at Paschim Bhuvanban area and informed to police. Thereafter the police of the West Agartala police station and Ramnagar Out Post visited the spot and recovered the stolen ark. Due to day-long duty on Modi visit, police could not open it on Monday.

However, police today opened the ark and recovered the stolen materials in front of SP, West, police personnel and others. At the same time, the owner of the stolen ark Subhasis Das and his relative were also remained present.

On being asked, Subhasis said, “I received a massive support from police. The cops asked me to keep patience and to co-operate them. I did it accordingly. As a result, police today returned back my missing smile.”
