AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): 87 Govt employees under NHM were terminated in Tripura, erupted mass resentment. This inhuman decision of the State Govt came amid BJP had its pre-poll promise about regularizing all contractual Govt employees in state. Reportedly, under NHM's Mission Director's order. 87 contractual employees have lost jobs from 1st November. Sources said, lack of Central funding has costed these terminations. This inhuman decision has devastated the families. Under NHM, the employees were posted as Ophthalmic Assistant for last 13 years. This inhuman move of the Govt came amid BJP's pre-poll promise of regularizing all contractual Govt employees. Not only NHM, earlier JICA project to Health dept many were terminated whereas under various other contractual jobs, people are going in retirement under the BJP Govt without being regularized.

The NHM Ophthalmic Assistants were posted in 46 health centres in Tripura.

The project started in 2007 under IL&FS and in 2019, Tripura Govt gave the project to Ramky foundation, but on 31st October, writing a letter to the outsourcing company Ramky, the Mission Director has asked to keep the project stop till centre permits, resulting termination of those employees from 1st November.

This has also caused massive crisis in the health care system as due to those centers' existence eye patients easily could get benefits at subdivisional level.

This fund crisis in state led terminations is again due to Central Govt's visionless anti-people budget.
