AGARTALA / PALATANA / UDAIPUR, November 30 (TIWN): SPG (Special Protection Group) took control of Palatana Plant and Agartala Airport. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Petroleum Secretary Sourabh Chandra arrived state on Sunday alongwith a delegation of 36 high officials. ONGC Special Flight landed Agartala Airport at 5.03pm. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Petroleum Secretary Sourabh Chandra and high level delegation stationed at State Guest House. Earlier, ONGC CMD D K Sarraf, BHEL CMD P Prasada Rao , Infrastructure Leasing and Financing Services(IL& FS) CMD Shahzaad Dalal, ONGC Full Board of Directors comprising A K Banerjee( Director, Finance), Ashok Verma( Director, Onshore), S Shanker ( Director, T & SS), D D Mishra( Director, HR Division) and T K Sengupta( Director, Offshore) arrived Agartala Airport by the 10.45am Air India flight. " Today in Guwahati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government was committed to the development of the northeast region, and assured the people of Assam that the land swap deal with Bangladesh will stop illegal infiltration and not compromise their security.The prime minister, who Saturday began a three-day visit to the northeast, was speaking at a public rally at the Sarusajai Stadium here.

Modi said he will use the land swap deal to stop infiltration from Bangladesh and for the benefit of Assam.

"I know the sentiments of the people of Assam. I assure you that I am going to use the proposed land swap deal for the benefit of Assam. I am going to make such arrangements that the land swap deal with Bangladesh benefits Assam," he said.

"I am going to use the land swap deal to stop illegal infiltration from Bangladesh, which has been a perennial problem for the state. I am also going to use the land swap deal to ensure security along the border in Assam," Modi said while seeking the consent of the people.

"It may seem a loss for Assam at present, but I will make arrangements so that it benefits Assam in the long run," he said.

Security has been beefed up in Agartala Airport to thwart any possible attacks from insurgents ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the commercial generation II unit of OTPC at Palatana of Gomati district on December 1st.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive tommorrow afternoon to inaugurate the commercial generation of OTPC Palatana Unit II.  OTPC will be exporting  100 MW power to Bangladesh.

While visiting Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said a sports university will be opened in Manipur.

The prime minister, speaking at the concluding function of the Manipur Sangai festival, said sports was the fulcrum of tremendous economic activity and several allied disciplines such as nutrition and physiotherapy could boost employment prospects for the youth of Manipur.

"We decided that there will be a sports university in Manipur. Manipur has a big contribution in making India proud on the world stage," Modi said.

"Sports is in the DNA in this land. There is sports and sportsman spirit both in Manipur," he said, also making an impassioned plea to free the youth of the state from the menace of drugs.

Already 2 company of CRPF and TSR jawans have been deployed at various locations of Udaipur. Highly placed sources in the PMO informed this correspondent on Thursday evening ," At 1230 HRS Prime Minister Narendra Modi will depart from Dimapur Airport by IAF BBJ and arrive at Agartala Airport at 1330 HRS. PM will take lunch on board. At 1335 HRS PM Modi will depart Agartala Airport by MI-8/17 Helicopter and will arrive Palatana Helipad at 1400 HRS. And from the Palatana Helipad PM will reach the Venue of the Inaugural Function at 1410 HRS . At 1410 HRS PM  will dedicate the Unit-II of ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd. Power Plant to the Nation. "

 The sources also add that the inaugural programme will be of exactly one hour duration when PM Modi will address a gathering of 50000 people inside the project area. After the programme PM will leave from the venue of the function at 1515 HRS by road and ariive at the Helipad at 1520HRS. At 1525 HRS the MI-8/17 Helicopter of the PM will depart from Palatana and arrive at Agartala Airport at 1550 HRS. According the sources at 1600 HRS Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave the state by IAF BBJ. By 1915 HRS PM will reach Delhi Airport. The PMO sources also told TIWN ," Details of the PM programme have been communicated to the Chief Secretary, DGP, IGP(Int/Security), Secretary ( GAD/Protocol), DD , SIB and SP (SECURITY) from the New Delhi( Director SPG) by AIG SPG Bhupinder Singh on 25th November.
