AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb's undemocratic mafia-style "Threat" to media which already caught national media highlights, has been condemned by the Congress party. AICC General Secretary Bhupen Borah who came to Tripura to end the infighting among the Congress leaders, just has met a successive result of his visit by united Congress leaders and also kicked off a protest in front of the Congress Bhawan in Post Office Chowmuhani in a reaction against CM Biplab Deb's 11 September's statement. Bhupen Borah assured Tripura media that this issue will be now highlighted nationally. Congress today also has announced a 12 hours strike on 21st September with various issues including attack on media. Also, a journalist Parashar Biswas who condemned CM's statement was severely beaten on yesterday night at Ambassa in Dhalai District. Congress also has protested against this attack incident along with various other ongoing attacks on press-freedom.
Addressing media, Bhupen Borah has said, "Holding an elected democratic position, such an undemocratic statement is noway excepted from a Chief Minister. Biplab Deb must apologize for his statement".
