AGARTALA, Sep 6 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday has taken a dig at the BJP’s intolerance followed by various attacks on the opposition parties has commented that to BJP, to disagree with lies or any meaningless statement of them is “opposing” them. “If they say that sun rises in West and anyone protests, then s/he will face attacks. This is the situation now”, said Manik Sarkar. The former Chief Minister was visiting Khayerpur, met few attacked CPI-M families when he said so. Addressing media, Sarkar said, “It is quite questionable whether this state is sold to anyone as or not as people are even free to go out or to oppose anything”. On being asked by Congress’s strike scheduled on 8th of September, Sarkar said, “I would not comment on that but Congress’s Birjit Sinha was severely attacked and his security guards too. After election results, there are continuous attacks on the opposition parties in this state”

“Was it necessary to attack on the Congress workers at Bishalgarh ? Attending party programme in Agartala from South Tripura by-road, was their (Congress) constitutional right. Was it necessary for the BJP to attack there ?”, Sarkar told media.

Along with Manik Sarkar, Pabitra Kar, Manik Dey and other local party members remained present.

Talking about the increasing attacks on the opposition, the former CM has said that attacks on Opposition is an attack on Democracy but it is quite surprising that nobody is allowed to oppose any statement of the ruling Govt.
