73 crores of MGNREGA wages pending to Tripura beneficiaries : State Govt appeals Centre to clear unpaid wages soon as COVID-19 lockdown begins

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 24 (TIWN): Mountain amounts of pending wages have been reported under MGNREGA and Tuep in Tripura as said by Chief Minister Biplab Deb in a press conference on Monday evening. Addressing media, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “MGNREGA, TUEP projects payments are yet pending totaling Rs. 73 crores which should be given to the accounts of the poor immediately. We have appealed to the Centre today”. Govt of Tripura has announced a complete lockdown from today (24th March, 2019) in state, to remain in effect till 31st March, 2020. It was further announced that anyone is doing illegal business, charging high, networking blackmarket sales, then Govt will take “anti-national” charges against them.Tripura Govt has taken certain decisions for the people as : 1) If any Doctor or Medical staff get infected by Corona-Virus during treatment of patient, then Rs. 4 lakhs to be given to the Doctor's family, 2) 3,95,000 social pension beneficiaries to be given 2 months advance allowance,

3) Antodyoy, Annapurna, Priority group members will get free ration for next 15 days (total 5 lakhs 86,000 families), 4) Mid-day-meal receiving children will get 15 days rice and daal in home, 6) Anganwadi children, pregnant women also will get their food grains at home, 7) For Tuep workers Rs. 5 crores have been sanctioned, 8) Total 10 days works have been given to the MGNGREGA beneficiaries (they will work by maintaining social distance and proper hygiene), 9) For PDF emergency works 5 crores have been sanctioned, 10) Roster duty for the Govt employees. Daily commodity selling shops, medicine shops, banks will remain open.
