AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 22 (TIWN): India is observing unprecedented shutdown 'Janta Curfew', called by Govt of India and the State Govts in a bid to slow the spread of novel coronavirus cases in the country. Indeed, the ‘Janata’ (the Public) have welcomed “Janata Curfew” with zeal to fight the Corona-Virus in Tripura. In a self disciplined manner, people in Tripura have proven their capacity to survive in lockdowns, which was necessitated due to the unprecedented outbreak of the deadly corona-virus. From bus stands to rails, roads all are empty without humans, giving total support to the State, Central Govt. In all 8 Districts, curfews are being observed to fight the virus. The curfew was necessitated to fight Corona-Virus and reportedly in all states, the curfew is being observed in the same way. Over 324 people have been tested positive for Covid-19 in India so far.

The novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 324 on Sunday, according to Health Ministry data.  Of them, 41 are foreign nationals and Maharashtra is worst hit with 63 confirmed cases. Kerala has the second highest number of cases at 52.  Delhi has reported 27 positive cases, which include one foreigner, while Uttar Pradesh records 25 cases, including one foreigner. 

Telangana has reported 21 cases, including 11 foreigners. Rajasthan has reported 24 cases, including two foreigners.  In Haryana, there are 17 cases, which include 14 foreigners.  Karnataka has 20 coronavirus patients. Punjab and Ladakh have 13 cases each. Gujarat has 14 cases while Jammu and Kashmir has four.  Tamil Nadu records six cases including two foreign nationals, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand reported three cases each. West Bengal reported four cases. Odisha has two cases.

Puducherry, Chhattisgarh have reported one case each while positive cases in Chandigarh increased to five.  Several states also came out with fresh numbers of positive cases though these were not immediately taken into account by the health ministry. 

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said 12 more fresh cases of coronavirus were reported on Saturday, taking the state's tally to 52. Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar said three foreign nationals under observation have tested positive and the total number of cases has risen to six.  A number of states and union territories announced measures aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus.  In wake of this Covid-19 positive cases in the country, India is currently observing a 14-hour-long 'Janta Curfew' until 9 pm today.

Several public services, including the Railways and metro services, are halted today during the public curfew.
