AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): The Lok Janashakti Party has started membership drive here in Tripura.
The Lok Janshakti Party is a state political party in the state of Bihar, India. It is led by Ram Vilas Paswan. The party was formed in 2000 when Paswan split from Janata Dal. The party has considerable following amongst Dalits in Bihar. Currently the party is a member of the National Democratic Alliance.
However, in Tripura this party’s name is yet unheard. The strongest parties in Tripura are the BJP, CPI-M, Congress and the state has few regional parties as regional party IPFT, INPT, TSP etc.
Addressing media, the leaders said that they held a meeting to decide about the agenda of the party and how it will function in Tripura.
Party observer is Meera Chakraborty who announced the membership drive’s launch. President Rupam Kar and two Vice Presidents Kamal Dey, Swapan Banik were present in that launching programme.
