Agartala, November 6 (TIWN): Computer Specialist & Padma Shri Award winner, Deepak B. Pathak is likely to be the new Chairman of National Institute of Technology. Most probably, Mr. Pathak is the second chairman after the establishment of NIT.
It is to be mentioned here that, Mr. Pathak is an Indian computer scientist and academic, and a recipient of the Padma Shri Award, for his contribution in science and technology in 2013.He is known for his notable work for upgrading Aakash, advertised by its manufacturer as the 'world's cheapest tablet'. In 2009, he was ranked one of the 50 most powerful people in India.
Phatak completed secondary school at Dayanand Arya Vidyalaya, graduated third in his class with a degree in electrical engineering from SGSITS Indore, completed his master of engineering (specialising in instrumentation, control and computers), and received his PhD in computer science from Indian Institute of Technology. His thesis was titled Digital Simulation and Identification of Linear Continuous Systems.
However, the 7th convocation of NIT Agartala will be held on November 8. The convocation ceremony will be held in the Visvesvaraya Auditorium of the institute. Padma Vibhushan, Professor Man Mohan Sharma will be the chief guest of the ceremony. Chairman, Board of Governors of NIT Agartala will preside over the convocation ceremony. The Director of NIT Agartala, Professor Gopal Mugeraya will award the degrees to the students.
In the convocation, in total 4 Ph. D. scholars, 118 M. Tech students, 13 MBA students, 15 M. Sc. Students, 16MCA students and 500 B. Tech students will get their degrees.
To make this ceremony a complete success enthusiastic efforts are being taken on the part of the patron of the organizing committee, said Director Professor Gopal Mugeray.
