AGARTALA, Nov 21 (TIWN): BJP President Amit Shah chosen Pradyot Manikya's proposal for Bru/Reangs permanent Tripura residentship/rehabilitation rather than Biplab Deb's negative proposal of pushing out Brus/Reangs from Kanchanpur/North Tripura, a source has informed. Already Biplab Deb led Tripura BJP Govt's apathy caused 6 starvation deaths & over 50 Brus hospitalization. In a major development for Bru /Reang people, residing in Tripura for over 22 years in Kanchanpur camps and a section claimed to be part of the soil of Tripura and desheltered during Dumboor hydro-project in Tripura long back, both State and Central Govt might discuss about the issuing of Permanent Residence of Tripura’s certificates (PRTC) for the Brus. Bru community people who were ready to depart for Mizoram witnessed a pathetic outcome after reaching there and neither Mizoram Govt nor the Central Govt allegedly kept promise given to the Brus and their lands were given in parts and scattered.

Recently 6 Brus died in Tripura in starvation after Govt stopped rationing for the Brus and later the ration was resumed after 7 days long protest staged by the Brus but the ration was ensured till November 31st only.

With the uncertain future hanging over the fate of the Bru Community, an indigenous Northeast Community who are treated in negligence both by Tripura Govt and Mizoram Govt, Royal scion Pradyot Manikya has written a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding shifting of rehabilitation package would be shifted from Mizoram to Tripura.

He also described how during Dumbur Hydel Power Project Tripura had desheltered the Brus from Tripura.

In the letter the Royal scion also said, “Tripura which even gave refuge to Shah Shuja who was escaping his brother Aurangzeb wrath and lakhs of discriminated Hindus from East Pakistan and Bangladesh pre and post partition has to give an option for our BRU/Reang people a chance to stay in the state along with proper land and educational and health facility”.

After united protest of Brus on road in addition of 6 starvation deaths, Govt of Tripura reinstalled the ration supplies for the Brus again. But the complications remained as the supplies will be till November 30th. Thus the tension about food supplies continue to haunt the Bru camps, thinking, what would happen after 30th November ?

The BJP led State Govt continues to push the Brus whose surnames are maximum Reang to Mizoram back whereas after few families physically travelled for Mizoram experienced horrifying outcomes and unwelcoming attitude of the Mizoram Govt. The given promise was not even filled to satisfy the needs of the Brus and in this situation after 22 years of refugee like lives, the Brus have demanded to stay on the soil of Tripura as many children, youths are among them who born here.

Reacting over BJP's Godi media propaganda, one of which said CM Biplab Deb wrote letter to Amit Shah seeking  PRTC permission for Brus, Pradyot Manikya said, "When I asked for Bru resettlement to Amit Shah on the 16th the Tripura Times called my move bizarre and communal. Today the same newspaper says that HON CM suggested the same idea to Amit Shah on the 18th of Nov . Will they take their words back and apologise ?"
