Agartala, November 1 (TIWN): Panic has gripped a majority for a chunk of populace residing under North Zone Office of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) over governmental contractor to privatize facilities of drinking water usage to be measured with modernized metre capacity.
Few brokers of the contracted organization were observed to have approached a handsome number of localites with information that they have come on behalf of public private contracted organization to set up metre line for facilitating the people of the locality with purified drinking water under certain terms and conditions by being billed every month differing on usage of the users.
Such a measure has brewed suspicion of many people of the locality over the steps with sudden moves undertaken by a contracted firm to dig soil for fixing new water pipelines in front of several houses at Shyamali Bazar in the capital town of the state.
The Wards under North Zone Office of AMC counts from Ward No. 1 till Ward No. 8, but the contracted work for setting up new pipelines with metre facility was made selectively, as scrutinized survey has revealed the data that such an approach was done in randomized manner so far.
Several people of certain locality where such steps were undertaken have been confusing many of them because they are puzzled with the measure of AMC contractors, whether they shall need to pay annual water tax and moreover pay money for the metre pipelines of drinking water.
“We have come to know that if the new water facility with metre pipelines isn’t accepted by us, then our old pipelines may be blocked in future that shall bring us down to water crisis on households,” said a resident of Shyamali Bazar, where the AMC’s private contracted brokers have already started to misinform many localites to exploit the situation that is expected to be a trick to earn more contracts from households in a locality of the AMC.
