Top officers meet CM, urge revocation of punitive measures against colleagues

AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): In a move of solidarity with junior colleagues top ten police officers of the state-all belonging to IPS cadre service-led by DGP Akhil Kumar Shukla met in deputation with chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb yesterday in the state secretariat to urge upon him to revoke the punitive measures against junior colleagues for alleged failure to nab deputy leader of the opposition and former PWD minister Badal Chowdhury even after rejection of his anticipatory bail. The team of police officers explained to the chief minister that suspended SP (West) Ajit Pratap Singh and DIG Arindam Nath who was divested of all responsibilities had bright track-record in police service and the latter had even been conferred President's police medal .

Ajit Pratap Singh also had graduated from prestigious IIT and is sincere to the core in his service . They urged upon the chief minister to revoke the suspension order slapped on Ajit Pratap Singh and restoration of responsibilities to Arindam Nath . All the police officers tried to convince the chief minister that the police force had done its duties sincerely made every attempt to nab Badal Chowdhury but the man was missing .

Having heard out the officers the chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that he would think over their pleas provided they showed positive action and success in performing assigned duties . He also deplored the failure of the police to nab Badal Chowdhury even after his anticipatory bail plea had been rejected but assured the police officers that he might reconsider the matter provided they produced results at the ground level .
