AGARTALA, Oct 6 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb, his wife Niti Deb were seen in North Tripura’s Dharmanagar sub-division today celebrating Durga puja with locals. Deb and his wife offered prayers to Dharmanagar Kali Bari, the most famous temple of North Tripura.
The couple also shared moments with masses, had lunch with Astami-Bhog. They were wearing traditional attires to mark Durga puja.
Across the state, Durga puja was celebrated with much enthusiasm, devotion today.
With Astami “tithi” has been started, devotees started to gather before puja pandals from morning in Tripura. Temples, clubs, houses were busy since morning to organize puja following all rituals carefully Durga Ashtami or Maha Ashtami is one of the most auspicious days of five days long Durga Puja Festival. In India fasting is undertaken by many people on this holy occasion. This day is also known for 'Astra Puja'(Worshiping Weapons) as on this day the weapons of goddess Durga are worshiped. The day is also known as Vira Ashtami as there are seen to use arms or martial arts on this day.
So far no law and order issue was reported in the state during Durga puja. It’s notable that CM Biplab Deb is also holding the Home Ministry.
