AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): While addressing on the occasion of one day workshop on 'Production and Management of Bamboo issues' at Prajna Bhavan, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that bamboo industry concept is not new for Tripura, rather it has been always important for the state culturally and economically.
Citing bamboo made houses specially in the Reang Community, CM said it shows how it’s still relevant with Tripura’s culture.
Bamboo not only produces more oxygen but economically bamboo has helped the people for livelihood.
The Chief Minister suggested further to adopt the marketing trend and how to boost the industry among Western world, as importance of bamboo-products have been high in Western world but needs to be fashioned with the needs and demands of the consumers.
He also asked people those who are involved in JICA mission to utilize the opportunity and to develop bamboo industry in the state.
“Bamboo not only increase the domestic production but also draws foreign funds. When state gets foreign currencies, growth goes high”, CM added.
“PM Modi since his first NITI Aayog meeting wanted to develop Tripura’s economy and bamboo is the biggest sector. 62% areas are under Forest Dept in Tripura and thus it’s the greatest opportunity to boost economy under National Bamboo Mission”, said CM.
