AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Although in everyday speeches, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath claims, the BJP-IPFT Govt has given most priority to the Education sector, but the higher education system left paralyzed in various means. SFI, DSO held protest on yesterday raising voice for HS passed students who have failed to take admission in Colleges yet although classes started before 5 days. Placing deputation to Saju Vaheed, Director of Education, SFI said, there must be a scientific way of admission and State Govt must take initiative to complete the admission procedure so that no student left deprived of higher education.
Dept has asked Colleges to manage the admission of all students, but SFI said, when classes have already been started this unscientific process have hit the students and the students who didn’t get admission are undergoing tremendous mental pressures.
SFI also raised the issue of recently announced 100 rupees fee collection from each student in all semesters, in the name of College development.
SFI said, “It’s a direct attack on students right for higher education”.Another organization DSO / Democratic Students Organization has staged protest infront of Education dept on yesterday demanding immediate admission of the students.
From 8 July classes have started across Tripura colleges. DSO said, even after classes are started, students are still moving form this door to that door without solution.
DSO further alleged, Govt has minimized the numbers of seats in Colleges for honours courses and thus students are bound to take admission in pass course.
“Last year also same problem erupted in the Colleges and we thought, this year the situation will develop but the Dept as if has no concern. Govt must look into the matter. Also, there are shortage of teachers in colleges. We demand development of College infrastructure and quality education”, Tripura DSO Secretary Ram Prasad Acharjee told media.
