AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Saturday has counterattacked the controversy of privatizing Tripura schools. Deb has asked his rival political party CPI-M and its allies under Communists how many of those leaders are sending their children in Govt schools ? The counterattack by the Chief Minister came after CPI-M came in protest against BJP Govt’s decision of privatizing 20 Govt schools. While addressing in a blood donation camp in Agartala, Deb said, CPI-M leaders always speak about right to education which they never implemented. “Tripura has cited rarest example by introducing NCERT syllabus in all schools together. Hardly any state could do this till date in such a short period. The previous Govt always lectured, CBSE is good for students but who stopped you (CPI-M Govt) from introducing CBSE syllabus ? Now the previous Education Minister and former CM also seeing the changes but they never attempted to change themâ€, said Deb.
He also said, “Quality Education” is more necessary than infrastructure citing example of Santiniketan where many golden students passed out studying under trees.
“Govt decided to privatize few schools due to lack of students and to create a competition. But those who are opposing, why they in their personal lives do not prefer their own kids to go to Govt schools ?”, Biplab Deb added.
He stated Parents-Teachers-meeting was introduced by BJP Govt in Govt schools, appreciated by guardians.
The BJP led State Govt has decided handover 20 schools in private hands which were closed due to students’ crisis. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the private authorities have to follow the Education laws strictly. For next 5 years, the schools have been allowed to use the ‘readymade’ infrastructure which were earlier invested by Govt of Tripura.
Tripura has 147 schools where numbers of students are less than 10. Out of them 20 schools have been selected to serve the purpose.
