AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, June 9 (TIWN): Founded in 1938 by freedom fighter, later became first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru The National Herald which was shutdown by British during Quit India movement is yet a popular media in India as well as across abroad. The newspaper has raised voice for Tripura and interviewed Tripurainfoway.com (TIWN) Editor Saumen Sarkar who exposed criminal empire of BJP led by its General Secretary Pratima Bhowmik, who has recently become MP via rampant rigging and violence. In the interview, Saumen Sarkar blamed Bhowmik for lawless situation in Tripura, attacks on state media, mostly in TIWN.

The news coverage with a significant title ‘BJP gets DoT to block a news portal in Tripura’ said, “Sarmen Sarkar’s nightmare which began in September last year shows no sign of ending. It has got more grim with Pratima Bhowmik getting enter to the Lok Sabha as BJP member of Parliament from West Tripura”. 

The newspaper also referred cornered state Tripura and wrote, “The US based promoter and editor of a news portal on Tripura, Tripurainfoway.com relied upon Tripura based writers, reporters, freelancer to inform the world about what us happening in the tiny state Tripura (population of just 4 million spread over an area of 10.5 thousand square kilometer) comparing NCR Delhi’s 1.7 crores of population in 1,500 square kilometer”.

The newspaper reported the attacks on the media was based on publishing news against Pratima Bhowmik who allegedly murdered her own brother Biswajit Bhowmik’s wife and also connected with various crimes. Tripurainfoway.com started campaigning to reopen the case.

“Some contents appear defamatory on the face of it as the accused Bhowmik to be a Crime Queen and running a smuggling racket not just narcotic but accused her of gun running………..had connection with smugglers of Bangladesh”, stated the National Herlad after reviewing the news items published in TIWN.

National Herald described how journalists, reporters were threatened by BJP and police and then police moved to Sarkar’s Agartala home to threat his old parents to put their son in jail under NSA.

The newspaper also mentioned about Dipak Debnath who was arrested for sharing TIWN news against another BJP MLA Krishnadhan Das, who had fake degrees and that was enough for the editor to lose Agartala ground reporters. After that the office was shutdown.

In interview with TIWN Editor, the National Herald quoted that there was no notice served when the website was blocked by Govt of India.
