AGARTALA, May 2 (TIWN): Various newspaper and electronic media editors in Tripura are facing critical situations, unable to proceed with independent journalism due to direct threat from Chief Minister Biplab Deb and his office along corrupt media coteries.
BJP General Secretary Pratima Bhowmik, who may be the next CM candidate has allegedly threatened many media houses in the recent days warning them for a permanent shutdown when she was caught in poll rigging.
One journalist Saikat Talapatra was arrested on May 27 on baseless ground where he didn’t put anybody’s name.
Various channels were shutdown or struggling now as Mrinalini ENN, Channel Din Raat, Daily Desher Katha, TIWN etc.
BJP has not also cleared bills of advertisements to media houses which they broadcasted before 2018 election.
