AGARTALA, October 10 (TIWN): After experiencing an acute shortage of petrol for the past few days. Now the people are also facing the shortage of Diesel in the state. This has forced petrol pumps to ration the fuel and as a result hundreds of vehicles were seen in queue in front of petrol pump for refilling their vehicle tanks.

Due to this diesel shortage, most of the cars of the city are getting stopped. My cars were taken on finance. Business is affected as drivers are unable to take the cars out due to lack of diesel,” said Bijoy Sur an owner of a car trader. At present only two petrol pumps of the city are having petrol. This acute shortage has forced petrol pumps to ration the fuel.

It is to be mentioned here that a total of 85 loaded oil tankers in which 50 diesel, 25 petrol and 10 of kerosene have already reached the state yesterday. But till now there is no relief for the people of the city. Hundreds of vehicles were seen in queue in front of petrol pump for refilling their vehicle tanks.

It may be mentioned here that the fuel that comes to the state from Assam has been disrupted due to the continuous blockade of National Highway (NH) 44 in Meghalaya till last September 28.And the same has hit the stock of petroleum products of the state and by that time demand of petrol and diesel went up drastically among the Durga puja revelers. The NH 44 serves as the lifeline for Tripura, Mizoram, southern Assam (known as Barak Valley) and western Manipur.
