Agartala, October 5 (TIWN): The state government has announced to provide locomotive fuel through rationing system in the wake of petrol crisis in Agartala city and other sub-divisional headquarters.
A highly placed official source today said that that the authorities would sanction 2 liters for small vehicles; 5 liters would be allowed for big vehicles on a daily basis.
The decision was taken to avert the acute crisis of petrol and other locomotive fuel created in Tripura alongwith few states of the NE region due to the long MIPRL blockade in Meghalaya.
“The blockade has been lifted but the supplies weren’t back to normal yet due to Durga Puja in between”, the source said.
The MIPRL earlier in a statement announced that they were suspending agitations owing to the violence that erupted in Jaintia Hills where two people lost their lives and the Durga Puja celebrations.
Most petrol pumps of Agartala city were on all time high pressure for all four days of Durga Puja. The ICOL authorities took special initiative in normalizing the situation though it already spun out of control since before Mahashashthi.
