Attack on Ex-Finance Minister on Poll Day condemned Statewide : State Election Commission, Police worked as BJP-agent on Municipal Election

AGARTALA / BISHALGARH, Dec 28 (TIWN): Under puppet role of State Election Commission and Police across booths poll rigging continued, voters could not case votes and CPI-M polling agents were pushed back from the booths. Sever attacks took place in the name of election, under BJP’s incapability to win a single seat without rigging. Ex-Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha who is 65 years old, also a cancer patient was slapped, punched on his face by BJP activists led by Nabadul Banik. Statewide regardless political identity people have slammed BJP’s autocracy on the polling day. Even two voters were left injured and maximum could not cast votes and those who casted votes, they had to case in front of the BJP polling agents. But when statewide condemnation has been started, Tripura’s coward Chief Minister and his Cabinet and also ruling party BJP failed to condemn such attacks. Moreover, Nabadul Banik who earlier also attacked Ex-Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s convoy, police took no action against him yet, rather, Banik turned overnight BJP youth icon. TIWN Editor Saumen Sarkar has slammed BJP for teaching such culture among state youths, which didn’t spare a 65 years old cancer patient, Ex-Minister from brutal attack.

Saha’s spectacle was also broken in that attack and he received injuries on his face. Even though FIR was lodged but police have not taken any action yet.

Talking to media, Bhanulal Saha said, he never could imagine young people of his locality will attack him like this.

CPI-M in a press release condemning the attack said, “Total 10 candidates have submitted nominations and accordingly CPI-M candidates along with polling agents went to the booth centres. In Booth No-3 and Booth No-5, polling agents were sent whereas like all booths BJP prevented them to enter in those booths also. At 9 am, BJP miscreants led by Nabadul Banik (Yuva Morcha President of Bishalgarh who recently attacked Ex-Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Bishalgarh) along with around 50 BJP goons started beating the CPI-M activists and polling agents at there. Ward No-3 candidate Prasenjit Bhattacharjee, Ward No-5 candidate Pritam Majumder, election agent Tapan Debnath, Ward-No-7 candidate Bishnupada Bhowmik were injured in the attack. Right now Bishnupada Bhowmik is admitted in TMC hospital after he received serious injuries”. The BJP miscreants attacked Ex-Minister Bhanulal Saha who was the polling agent of Ward No-4.

15 No-Ward CPI-M candidate Satyaranjan Das was attacked in front of his house led by same Yuva Morcha leader Nabadul Banik.

“At each booth BJP miscreants are attacking the opposition candidates. 2 voters were physically abused, attacked. BJP activists have casted votes illegally in each booth. CPI-M has told the incident to the administration. Many voters could not case votes and if anybody casted votes, they had to do it in front of BJP cadres. CPI-M condemns this incident. The voting was a farce and against people’s will and thus CPI-M will not send its candidates to the counting session for this farcical voting”, CPI-M said.

Similar attacks held in Belonia, Santir Bazar, Sadar sub-division forced CPI-M to withdraw candidates. A massive protest was staged in front of Agartala SDM Office voicing against the poll-rigging.
