AGARTALA, Nov 11 (TIWN): Panic gripped Battala-Nagerjala locals, shop-keepers, travelers as a big pipe from the under-construction flyover has been collapsed on Sunday evening.
With this, poor construction of Agartala flyover is again under scanner.
This pipe was however set on the walls and has no link with the base-construction, but due to the ongoing controversy regarding flyover propagated by ruling BJP Govt and few media, heavy tensions have gripped the locals of Agartala.
The incident took place at around 8.30 pm when suddenly one pipe fell on the ground from the flyover.
Fortunately nobody was injured in this incident.
The flyover was to be inaugurated in 2018-January but due to election, the construction was delayed.Since BJP Govt came in power, it has stopped the whole work which is also leading the half done flyover towards destruction.
This would be the first flyover of Tripura, which was constructed to manage the increasing traffic jams in the capital city Agartala at the cost of 300 crores.
It came under controversy, as previous CPI-M Govt. awarded Rs 300 crores Agartala Flyover project to Hyderabad based Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) which was blacklisted by Pondicherry Govt in 2012 for indulging into massive irregularities which was unearthed by the Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI in Chennai.
