AGARTALA, Oct 23 (TIWN): Bengali Hindu families have geared up to celebrate Kojagiri Laxmi Puja which will be celebrated statewide tomorrow. Even though, markets were frustrated till yesterday but since today afternoon buyers rushes have increased. Housewives are busy to carry Laxmi idols at homes, puja shopping and to buy sweets. Durga Puja which is the biggest ever celebration for Bengalis, has been ended but Laxmi Puja to mark another celebration. Festive lover Bengalis thus after Durga Puja, now have geared up to celebrate Laxmi Puja 2018 with prayers, family getting together and burning of fire crackers, lighting candles. Laxmi puja in Bengali community is observed with candles, joys, fire crackers. Markets have been stored with various items, idols, fruits, fire crackers etc centering the puja.Fire crackers are also sold heavily on that occasion. Sound crackers even though not allowed but each year people enjoy all kinds of fire crackers in the state amid restrictions. Laxmi Puja to be celebrated on October 24 this year.Lakshmi, the Goddess of riches, light and believed for visiting each family on this full moon night.

By chance Kojagori Lakshmi Puja or Kojagori Purnima agrees with Navanna or the collecting celebration or season which starts from this day when the gathered grains are expended in family units.

It is additionally a typical conviction that with a specific end goal to manage goddess Lakshmi to the families, occupants lit up diyas, candles, earthen or electric lights on the patios or overhangs particularly to demonstrate the way.

In Bengali there is a popular phrase "Baro Mashe Tero Parbon" (13 festivals in 12 months) and this Laxmi puja is a part of it. 

Before Laxmi puja, Bengalis have celebrated "Pohela Boishakh", "Biswakarma Puja", "Manasha puja", "Mahalaya", "Durga puja". Now after "Laxmi puja", "Kali Puja" and "Bhai Phota" to be celebrated.
