AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): With a new twist on Tripura NRC case's tagging with Assam NRC case by the Supreme Court, a non-tribal social organization 'Rashtriya Sathkatha Samaj' members have filed petition in Supreme Court demanding "NRC should be same for all, including tribals and non-tribals and if not so Govt must restored the Chakla Rosonabad area which is still considered as Tripura portion in Bangladesh map". The organization also have demanded to include "Chakla Rosonabad" (Comilla Division) with Tripura as in Bangladesh map till day that area is given to Tripura, not Bangladesh. Petitioner Chandan De said that they have demanded that people came from that part (Comilla) should not be considered as Bangladeshi and also to add that portion with Tripura which was a part of the state in King's time and never officially joined with Bangladesh.'Rashtriya Sathkatha Samaj' also sent letters to Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Chief Secretary L K Gupta, Advocate General Arun Kanti Bhowmik in this regard.

After filing the petition, Chandan De told TIWN, "It has been seen that decades after decades tribals from Khagrachhari District and other places of Bangladesh kept on coming and Govt made camps for them and now settled here permanently. Moreover historically, geographically in Tripura Bengalis today and yesterday always were majority since the King's time. How can Tripura's case can be tagged with Assam ? We have strong, valid documents in our support. No way this NRC can target a particular community". The next hearing has been listed by Supreme Court of India on 26th November, 2018.

The case was filed against 'Civil Writ Petition No.1178/2018' filed by Tripura Peoples Front (TPF) leader Palat Kanya Jamatia and her group in Supreme Court. TPF rejected Indira-Mujib deal of 1971 and sought NRC from 1951.

Chandan De told the Chief Minister, "Govt is aware that on 15th October, 1949 Independent Tripura was merged with the Union of India and Regent Mata Maharani Kanchan Prabha Devi on behalf of minor the the Yuvaraj Late Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur signed the merger agreement which contains condition that the Union of India shall maintain state and property and number of temple etc...but document says, before 1949 Chakla Rosanabad was part and parcel of Tripura State and considering this it would be clear that non-Tripuri people came from Chakla Rosanabad have to be treated as domicile Tripura".

"In some record of rights in respect of landed property at Chakla Rosonabad contains the words Zilla-Tippera and Bangladesh map till day doesn't consider that area to Bangladesh. People of Tripura must get back their Chakla Rosanabad which was never given to erswhile East Pakistan and there is no document in this respect so far we have searched out", the petitioner told CM and Chief Secretary and also Advocate General.

(Khagrachhari, also known as Chengmi is a district in Chittagong Division, south-eastern Bangladesh and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Khagrachhari is also known as Phalang Htaung or the Mong Circle.
