AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): After opposition raised Tripura and Punjab mob lynching episodes, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has asked the State Govts of India to take strict action against mob-lynching which has claimed many lives in recent days. Singh who was addressing in Lok Sabha, said, “Mob lynching should not be. Central Govt's full support is with the state govts to stop such crimes. If necessary states may introduce laws against mob-lynching but it must be stopped immediately. On yesterday also I talked on mob-lynching and everytime I have condemned it”. However, as a part of damage repairing over 20 mob-lynching in allover India, Rajnath Singh said, in 1984 country witnessed the most brutal episodes of mob-lynching.“They are preaching against mob-lynching ? Today also one can see the condition of Shikhs”, Singh added. Countering opposition's charges of attack on democracy, Rajnath Singh said, "India has a long tradition of democratic processes and it is due to this rich democratic process, today a tea seller has been able to become the Prime Minister of the country."

Taking a dig at Shashi Tharoor's remark over 'Hindu Pakistan' and mob lynching, Rajnath said the biggest mob lynching had happened in 1984. “Mob lynching incidents are very unfortunate and I asked state governments to make strictest of laws against it but I would like tell people who are raising these issues that the biggest case of mob lynching happened during 1984 Sikh genocide.""

"Sikhs have suffered the most and I assure them that justice will be done, we have formed an SIT. People talk about the ‘Hindu Taliban’. Where they are taking this country with such talks,” Singh added.

"It’s not like lynching has been happening only in the last few years. But, whoever is killed, it is a worry for all governments. I condemn mob lynchings of and in all forms”, Singh said.

On yesterday, opposition walked out the Parliament  after Rajnath Singh replied, “Through social media, the way fake news is propagated, these kinds of incidents take place. We have asked social media service providers to install checks in their system to prevent such incidents. Such incidents are unfortunate and I request state governments to take appropriate actions against the culprits”.
