Power cut: Consumers face harder times, hook-line connection increases

AGARTALA, September 3 (TIWN): Electricity consumers are in for harder times as the solution to the prevailing epileptic power supply being witnessed in the state since long time is not yet in sight. Normal life of people turned intolerable due to scorching heat and frequent load shedding. On the other hand, the officials of TSECL are disconnecting illegal electricity transmission lines at town areas of Gandacherra, while power supply through hook line became a regular practice at rural areas.

Electricity consumers in the affected areas are groaning under the erratic power supply. The situation has forced the TSECL to resort to load shedding which has thrown several parts of the state into darkness for several hours. Sources said that one can easily observe the power connection through hook line in villages. Sources said higher officials banned to provide new electricity connection at present. On the other hand, fine collected by disconnecting hook line has been siphoned illegally. The initiative of disconnecting power connection at Sadar begins every year in the month of March.

The officials of TSECL announce to pay the pending electric bill within March every year. They disconnect the power connection if common people fail to pay the bill within the stipulated time. On the contrary, the corporation is afraid of disconnecting the power connection at the houses of ruling party leaders and cadres.

Reliable sources of the corporation said that about 175 power connections given through hook line. There are two main power supply lines including 11 KV and 33 KV. Sources said that troubles of power cut started since beginning of rainy season. In such a situation the Puja organizers are facing a lot of problem. Both the connections of TSECL go out of order due to a normal shower of rain. It is mentionable that repair of 33 KV electricity transmission lines take one week because it reached at Gandacherra.
