AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): The EVM voting percentage has hiked at almost 90 % (89.96 %) from 78 % , rubbishing BJP's earlier allegation against CPI-M Govt for generating fake voters by manipulating administration. It was only one newspaper (name hidden), which published without mentioning source of the news that around 88 % to 90 % percent votes were cast in Tripura and today when the voting percentage was announced it came 89.8 %. However being asked by media on this particular issue, BJP State President Biplab Deb said, 'I don't think anything happened like that as Election Commission's observation was there. Apart from that 32000 fake voters were already cut from the list. Now let's keep faith on the Election Commission'.Question was raised whether 2.5 lakhs voters voted from 9 PM to 12 PM on yesterday night ? Moreover, the voting was conducted only in few polling stations.
The voting percentage which was 78.56 % till 9 PM on yesterday, suddenly it has jumped to 89.08 %. The CEO Sriram Taranikanti has told media that the total percentage of voting is 89.08 % as the voting was continuing till late night.
This sudden increase of voting rate has generated resentment and also tension among a section of voters led media to ask Biplab Deb regarding his stand on this point.
The matter became concern following yesterday evening's Santir Bazar incident regarding malfunctioning of an EVM by a polling official. But BJP is taking the issue normally and asked public to keep faith on the Election Commission.
