KAMALPUR, Jan 2 (TIWN): The embezzlement and corruption in the PMGSY roads continues at this sub-division and such an instance got found at Lambucharra area here at Kamalpur.

Under the centrally sponsored PMGSY scheme, the 2.273 kilometer long road from Halhali-Chebri NEC road to Lambu garden was undertaken in 2014. The work of the road was started on 19/12/2014 and the stipulated period to complete the work was 18/12/2015. The amount sanctioned for the construction was as huge as 1, 27, 62, 000 rupees.

But after the stipulated period, the road found incomplete. Moreover, the construction of the road remained at the very initial stage, according to the villagers. But what remained mysterious that, neither the implementing agency HSCL nor their appointed contractor Swarnakamal Ghosh Sarkar found keen enough to pace up the work. The PWD(R&B) also remained silent with their fingers’ crossed about that road as the work not fell into their jurisdiction. Local political leadership, always claiming of faster development and sincerest works in the state also remained numbed up. 

Interestingly, the maintenance period of the road with an allotted expenditure of 16, 30, 000 rupees got started from 19^th December, 2015. Now, what would be about that cost and when the road would be completed remained the question of the locales.
