AGARTALA, March 25 (TIWN): Man sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife and his mother was released with benefit of doubt.

According to the lawyer, the incident happened in 2017. A case was registered at West Agartala police station by Pushpa Banik, victim’s father against Mithu Das and his mother Uma Das.

Against Uma Das, 498/34 of IPC was registered and against Mithu Das 498/302 IPC was registered.

However, Uma Das was released on benefit of doubt but Mithu Das was convicted on both charges. For 498 IPC, three years of jail and for 302 IPC life-imprisonment was given.

Total 31 witnesses came to the court during the hearing process.
