AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): Rumours, mob violence are rising in an alarming rate in Tripura. People are attacking in group anyone under suspicion of thief, robbers. Back in 2018 similar situation erupted which ended by snatching lots of lives. Yesterday in Aralia, two men were arrested after locals claimed that they are robbers. Both of them were bleeding as public brutally beat them up but some morning headlines in local newspaper raised questions about the validity of such claims and how much mob violence can be justified.
Recently, suspecting cow-smugglers, youths were killed and similar attack incidents come frequently on innocent people. Tripura already in top rank for political violence which is now added by mob-violence.
At Haradhan Sangha area in Agartala a man was beaten up today suspecting him a thief. He was later handed-over to police. But question raises, whether mob-violence is justified or not.
