AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Increasing crime against women in the state continue to fuel tension. Reportedly a housewife identified as Aparna Debnath of Charilam area was allegedly tortured by her husband and mother in law.

Talking with the housewife, it is known the housewife has been tortured by her husband often in an intoxicated state. Over uncontrollable physical tortures by mother-in-law and husband, the housewife consumed poison.

It is known that the housewife is 5/6 months pregnant.

The housewife alleged her husband has an illicit affair with another woman in the neighbourhood.
